Prof. Byakika graduated from Makerere University in 1985 with an (MB.ChB) degree and holds a Master’s degree, MMed Surgery (University of Nairobi) and an Mch Orth from the University of Dundee, Scotland. He has pursued a career in orthopaedics since 1991 taking a special interest in arthroscopic surgery that he has performed keenly since 2000. His key areas of interest are knee, hip and shoulder arthroscopy, hip, knee and shoulder joint replacement surgery, orthopaedic trauma in general and aspects of revision and reconstructive trauma.
The operation was successful and I went home after 3 days. After 2 months of physiotherapy I was back to work with no pain. I wish Dr. Byakika God’s blessings in all his endeavors since he has helped me get rid of the pains that were really affecting me and now I am able to live a pain-free normal life.
I was in the hospital for 4 days after which I was discharged. It took about a month to fully recover. After 3 months, I resumed work. The pain that I had experienced for the last 3 years was gone! It was a miracle. I would strongly recommend Dr. Byakika to all patients out there suffering from arthritis.
It’s been a journey of fighting hopelessness and with the surgical efforts and advice of Prof Byakika, I’ve been able to enjoy a sport I love again. A nasty knee injury made me believe I was done and out. Even after the assurance of the knee being taken care of, I was doubtful. It was only after the procedure and long period of dedicated physiotherapy that I started believing football was alive in me. It’s been 2 years and I can safely say I can play the game. It feels great. Renewing. I feel the joy of a child. It’s an honor to have been his patient.
I came to Prof. Byakika’s clinic for a second opinion, and I never left after that. I was impressed by the wealth of knowledge and insight that he had but was particularly taken by his warm and considerate manner. He really does listen to the many questions you may have about your condition and in return offers you competent advice devoid of mere platitudes which I must say is uncommon. The journey to and through the operation that fixed my ACL, PCL and fractured patella issues was long, but I received a lot of information and support from his office, in addition to a competent Physiotherapy referral that greatly aided my healing and recovery process. The staff at the clinic are very efficient and friendly, with prompt and well detailed communication. It makes everything go very smoothly. I do not wish to have another injury, but if I did, I know exactly WHERE to go and most importantly, WHY.
What I like most about Dr. Byakika is his confidence as he performs the surgery, meeting your expectations, explaining the whole process prior to performing it and the fact that you are able to see what he is doing on a screen during the actual surgery. He is also very patient with his patients and goes out of his way to explain the medical jargon in simple layman’s language.
